Improved Student Performance
Using CARMA technology in the classroom offers considerable advantages for learning. In a study of student performance in an Internet-Based Multimedia Classroom (that is, a classroom that "combines the best practices of distance learning with traditional 'brick and mortar' classrooms"1.) it was shown that student performance improved significantly by making recorded lectures available to students.
In summary, the paper observed:
A nearly one-half point mean grade improvement when lectures were made available online.
A 36% increase in honors grades when lectures were made available online.
A 56% reduction in failures when lectures were made available online.
